As the 1st IMSA Elite Mind Games continues, the race to the gold medal is getting intense. On Feb. 27th, the 2nd round of Men’s team division and the 3rd round of Women’s individual division matches were completed.
The big highlight of men’s team 2nd round was China against Korea, the two strongest candidates in the division. All three games led to complicated fights, but eventually Korean team took the important victory by winning 2 games out of 3 boards. Japan and Taipei, the two middle groups threatening Korea and China, both won the 2nd round against Europe and North America respectively.
As a result of the 2nd round, Korean and Japanese team have two wins, China and Chinese Taipei one win and one loss, and Europe and North America are recording two losses.
In the women’s individual, Korea’s highest ranker Choi Jeong and China’s number one Yu Zhiying are facing each other at the final round of winner’s bracket. The winner of this game will sit on the very final round of women’s individual division. On the loser’s bracket, there are Oh Youjin, Korea’s second highest female player, is playing China’s Cao Youyin, while Joanne Missingham (aka Hei Jiajia) is playing Yu Lichun and Yu Jin is playing Elvina Karlsberg.
